Johnny Weir vs. PETA

So it now looks like PETA has won this battle. I don't blame Weir for agreeing to change the real fur on his costume to fake fur. After the threats he received to disrupt his performance at the Winter Olympic, I can see why he would make the change. Which is a shame though. And makes me hate the group PETA even more.

I agree that animals should be treated as humanly as possible. I do understand that does not always happen. Having an organization that tries to rectify the situation is not a bad thing. But taking things to extremes is. Making threats against a person for the clothes they wear is wrong. Whatever happened to personal choice?

Educating the public on the conditions animals are raised in and then slaughtered sounds like a more productive use of resources. What's next harassing the guy that buys chicken mcnuggets because the chicken is not free range? There is nothing wrong with having strong opinions. I sure have them. But I don't go and harass others over them. We all have the right to make our own choices. Some of them will be good and others not so good. I may not agree with your choices, but I respect that you have the right to make them. That does not mean I have to associate with you though, or buy your products/watch your performances, etc..
