Would you change your history if you could?

Last night the wife and I watched Life on Mars. If you are not familiar with the show a policeman named Sam from 2008 gets transported back into time to 1973. In the show he meets his mother and himself as a young boy. His mom thinks he is a cop named Luke Skywalker and last night asked him if he would talk to her son who is having issues with his father leaving. Sam refuses at first. He is afraid of the responsibility of talking to himself. He is not sure what life changes he may cause. Whatever he says would have repercussions that he has no way of knowing.

Which brings me to the question of would I go back in time and talk to myself if I could? Each choice we make leads to new choices. They also close off prior choices as well. Even picking an obvious bad choice I made when I was younger would I be better off today? Where I am now is an accumulation of thousands and thousands of small choices. It is who I am. By going back and changing one choice would I still be the same person? I don't know.
