Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I managed to catch the first two episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles the last two nights. I had very low expectations for this series since going from a film series to a tv series usually does not work. The Terminator and The Terminator 2: Judgement Day are two of my favorite films. Especially the second one. Yes, I know they made a third one but let's do our best to forget about it. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the first two episodes of the series. Lena Headey may not have the muscles that Linda Hamilton showed off in the second movie, but she does a convincing portrayal of the role. I just hope I get over the thought of her yelling Sparta at some point. Thomas Dekker does a much better job in the role of young John Connor than Edward Furlong did. At least I think so. He is able to pull of the teenage angst as he tries to live his life and also become the hero he is told he will be. Not the best situation to be in. Summer Glau has the difficult role of replacing Arnold as the helpful Terminator. I loved her in Firefly and Serenity. She has the ability to go from the wide eyed innocent to the killing machine she is in an instant. I kind of wonder about the looks John keeps giving her though. Especially when she is in that short skirt. I wonder if the writers were a fan of Star Trek: Next Generation? In particular the episode where we find out that Data was "fully functional". I like the twist they threw in when Sarah asked Cameron if she took orders. Cameron said yes, but only from John. Sarah then asked if she tells John to order her to do something will it work and Cameron replies no, she only follows orders from the future John. There is also the twist that freedom fighters have been sent back in time by John to help them. All in all the first two episodes were very good and show a lot of promise. I am interested in seeing where the show goes from here.
