Charity begins where your boss tells you...

So we are well into our annual United Way drive. Does every job go through this now? I still don't get it. Why is it ok for your employer to ask for money for their charity, but it is not permissible for you to ask for your charity? It is insulting. Every year the same thing. The same lame gimmicks to try and trick you into donating your hard earned money into a donation they take credit for. I believe in charity. I also believe charity is personal and it is up to each individual to choose if and what charities are worthy of a donation. I am a college graduate. I think I am above average in intelligence. I am more than capable of choosing my own charities. I certainly do not need my employer to tell me who or where I should donate my money! So every year I have to be the one employee everyone else hates because I won't contribute. There is a quota for the company. Hey, too bad. At least that is my opinion and I am sticking with it...
