Report Card Time...
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has released their state-by-state report card on educational effectiveness. They rank all 50 states and Washington DC. I was happy to see Ohio was not near the bottom of the list. We came in a respectable 11th. I was surprised by Kansas coming in at number 7. For those that follow the continual battle between creationists and the people who live the modern world, you know how the state has flip flopped several times on teaching science. What was not surprising is the bottom third of the rankings. Here we find most of the bible belt states. The conservative stronghold. Isn't it comforting to know that these are the people who think they know what is best for the rest of the country? Unfortunately they have politicians who listen to them. And who came in last--Washington DC. Our nation's Capitol. No Child Left Behind except in the conservative strongholds and the Capitol. And we wonder why cannot move ahead in this country...
