This afternoon I was in the stacks looking for a book when I heard a group of young teenage boys talking at a table. The one boy told his friends that some girl just broke up with him. His friends asked why? He said it was because she said he was too shallow. He then said how can I be shallow? I had to keep from laughing in front of them. Priceless...

Under 30s vs. Over 30s

So the under 30s are upset that older people are going online. Since when was the internet just for the young? Who do they think started it? I first went online over 20 years ago using a 300 baud modem. If teens are impatient now with the speed of the internet imagine accessing it at 300 bits per second. Of course we did not have graphics then either. There is more than enough room for all of us. So your mom or dad wants to be your Myspace or Facebook friend? Big deal. You should be happy they actually take an interest in what you are doing. Anything you post online is fair game for anyone to see. If you don't want your parents or grandparents to see something then don't post it. Or if you were as tech savvy as you think you are there are plenty of ways to do it so they would never be able to see it...

No Sex for Teens...

I meant to comment on this the other day. Amazing. At least they changed the law and it looks like he will get out of prison. Still, he has had to serve two years in prison. So a minor had another minor perform a sex act on him. Minimum sentence of 10 years and the added bonus of having to register as a sex offender. This is what the south is like. We have such a distorted view where sex is concerned. Violence? That can be shown on tv at all hours. A glimpse of a woman's breast? You must be joking. Where are our priorities? And the new law? Consensual sex between minors is now a misdemeanor and punishable by no more than one year in prison. Think about that. Two seventeen year old kids can have consensual sex and end up in prison. So instead of teaching responsibility about sex lets still throw them in prison. How messed up is that? Make anything forbidden to teens and you know they will go out of their way to try it. We are so behind the times. Why can't we just realize that sex is natural and get over it. Teach responsibility and respect for yourself and others and move on. Once we do that all this other bullshit will go by the wayside...
