Science, Evolution, and Creationism
The National Academy of Sciences and Institute of Medicine yesterday released an 88 page booklet documenting the overwhelming evidence in support of biological evolution and evaluating the alternative perspectives offered by advocates of various kinds of creationism, including "intelligent design.". A must read for the new year for anyone who cares about the future of science education in this country...

Darwin and the Beagle
Today is the anniversary of one of the most famous voyages in history. On December 27, 1831 the HMS Beagle set sail from England on its proposed two year survey. The two years turned into five which gave Charles Darwin ample opportunities to study local plant and animal life. Biology was never the same. Which is a good thing...

The View's new co-host...
Yes, I watch the show occasionally. Only if my wife turns it on though. I missed today's episode where the new co-host Sherri Shepherd made some interesting comments. You can see the video here. Or read a transcript here. It is bad enough to say you do not believe in evolution. To go beyond that and say you do not know if the Earth is round or flat? How did this woman get picked to be a co-host on a nationally broadcast talk show? It boggles my mind the stupidity...
