Obligatory Post...

It's that time again. The year is almost up and I feel the need to make 2015 goals. This is where I promise to do better with such and such or make more effort to do this and that. Then I wait a year to come back and see what I did not do. Maybe this coming year will be different? Maybe I can get myself into some new routines? More unlikely things have happened! No point in wasting time worrying about what didn't happen in the past. I can't undo my lost promises. All I can do is make an honest effort to try. So, that said I will make an effort to post more. I do miss blogging. I have to give up the idea that I will be writing fascinating things the world will rush to read and instead just worry about getting thoughts written down. If anyone reads them fine. If not that is no big deal either. People were not reading them when they were stuck in my head before. No actual goals of number of posts, followers, comments, etc.. Just me hoping I can visit more often and try to write out some ideas, reviews, and whatever random thoughts comes to mind.

Late Night Talk Shows

As I flip channels tonight I was wondering about the late night talk shows. Are they still relevant? We have 24/7 access to information today. Instead of actually watching one of these shows I could just watch the highlights online. Or watch other interviews with the guests. I can even read interviews from the guests.

I am trying to remember the last time I watched an entire show. I can't even remember the last time someone mentioned a particular part from any of these shows. Which is a shame. I can still remember the thrill of staying up late to see Johnny Carson. Or watching one of my favorite celebrities. Now? If I am interest I just go online to find out more.

Are we losing something by having instant access to information? I just don't know. What I do know is that another part of my childhood has passed on by.

Lost in the internet...

Funny how time gets away from us. Lately I have been spending way too much reading what others have written on the internet. It can be amusing and at times informative. But it is also fun to write my own. Which is why I plan to get back to blogging again. Don't expect all gems though. Or a cohesive and focused theme. A hodgepodge is what you will get. Which is fine by me. If no one reads it that is fine too. I can only control my end of things. So let it begin...

Twitter or not...

I added a twitter badge to my blog. Yes, I twitter. Is it the greatest things since sliced bread? Of course not. It is what it is and if that is how you use it than it can be fun/useful. I have got some good information and fun out of other people's tweets that I follow. And I admit that my lack of posting here on my blog is because of my use of twitter instead.

Most of the time I don't feel like I need to make a whole blog post for what is on my mind. I just want to pass on a thought or a link. In those cases twitter really is the ideal way to do it. You would be surprised how much info you can pass in 140 characters. But lately I have found that I do have more to say than what I can put in a tweet or two. And I do miss blogging. Not that very many people read what I post here. But that is ok. I don't blog for the masses. It is just my way of putting a thought out there and if people read it cool. And if they don't that is fine too. Life still goes on...

blogging and health...

I have been blogging on and off for awhile now. I still am trying to figure out if it is something worth doing. I mean am I doing it for myself or for others to read? If it is for others do I look at how many people read my posts or how many people comment to decide if I am hitting my target audience? Yada yada yada. Obviously almost no one comments so that can't be why I blog. I do get a fair amount of hits according to different counters. Should it matter? In the long run no. I wish I had more people take an active interest in my blog but deep down that is not why I do it. And I am glad to see that science has come to my rescue on this. There really is a good reason for blogging. Not exactly what I was looking for though. I have stuff on my mind and at times I just have to say it. That is why I blog. I know I could focus my posts on certain topics to try and draw an audience. I know there are other things I can do to try and draw readers to my blog. I figure what happens happens. If you find your way here and like my ramblings than I have done my job. If it turns out to be just me and my closest friends than that is cool too. One fact I have come to is that I cannot remain silent and there are times when I have to speak/blog out. So there will always be new posts by me. They may not be as frequent as I, or my readers my like, but they will happen. So I hope you enjoy what you read and if so maybe you can comment from time to time.
